Who Am I?:

My name is Julie Self. I am based in Northern California and have been making pottery since I was ten years old. In my day job I work as a Vision Scientist, and in my spare time I enjoy sailing and playing bluegrass guitar.

Why do I make pots?

There is a strong satisfaction in having the objects in my daily life be self-made. From the bowls and mugs that fill my kitchen cabinets to my Tiny Studio on Wheels which I designed and built from the ground up. Self Made Pottery is inspired by the idea that you can build your own world and enjoy not only the finished product, but also the memory of making it.

My hope is that every time you use one of my pieces, you think about the ways in which your own life is self-made.

1. Free Shipping (US Only)

Shipping within the United States is included in the list price of all items. 

2. International Orders

I am based in the United States and currrently only support domestic orders on the website. However, if you live elsewhere in the world and would like to purchase a piece, please email me and we can try to work something out. 

3. Refund Policy

If the item arrives damaged, or does not arrive at all, please reach out via the 'Contact' page or at [email protected] and I will refund your order. Hopefully this does not happen, but sometimes it is the reality of shipping fragile objects.

4. Store Updates

I sell my pottery in batches and will announce dates for store updates here on the website as well as over on instagram (@selfmadepottery) and Facebook (Self Made Pottery), so follow me to stay up-to-date!

5. Dishwasher/Microwave Safe

All pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe unless noted otherwise. 

6. Product Dimensions

For round objects (i.e most pots) Length and Width are calculated as the diameter at the widest point of the piece and Height is from the base of the pot to its tallest point.
